What is a B1 licence?
A B1 driving licence covers four-wheeled motorcycles with net engine power no greater than 15 kW and net weight no greater than 400 kilograms. The weight limit is 550 kilograms for goods vehicles; battery weight is excluded from this calculation for electric vehicles.
Although commonly called ATVs, not every ATV automatically falls within B1; the vehicle category and technical details on its registration document determine eligibility.

What do you practise in ATV training?
Although four wheels may seem to make balance easier, turning geometry, braking, weight transfer and visibility are different. Alongside test exercises, training aims to teach an accurate understanding of the vehicle's dimensions and safe manoeuvring limits.

- Starting, turning, confined-space manoeuvres and controlled stopping
- Test-course practice using cones and markers
- Visibility and correct lane position in traffic
